Sounds like the bike was left sitting for a long long period of time - or else while it was on the side stand - someone sat on it and the metal on the side stand mount - "bent" a bit allowing the stand to become sloppy in its travel arc. If it is flopping up and down when in the position for riding - I think you may need a bit of english to squeeze the two sides of the mount together - either that or the pivot on the side stand has worn away over the years - in which case you might get away with drilling it out, pressing in a sleeve of the correct diameter and then reinstalling it on a new "pin"
